Meet the Founder
The person behind the platform
I founded Ashcroft Education after spending years on both sides of the interview table — as a manager who interviewed professionals, and later finding myself as a candidate once again, applying for roles in a market I barely recognised.
In my late twenties I was in university management and one position away from Associate Dean. Then in 2024 the sector restructured, and I found myself doing something I hadn't done in years — applying for jobs. I applied for hundreds of roles. In most cases, there was no response.
It wasn't a reflection of experience or capability. It was a reflection of how communication-dependent the professional world had become. And it confirmed something I had already seen repeatedly as a manager: highly capable professionals lose opportunities every day not because of what they know, but because of how they communicate it in English.
A memory that has stuck with me is interviewing a candidate with a PhD, published research, and an exceptional CV. I was certain they would get the role. They didn't. Their expertise wasn't the issue. Their communication was.
